Length of training: 3 years, starting in August 2026

Production mechanics with Swiss Federal Proficiency Certificate (EFZ) produce and process components made of metal and plastic. They assemble components to form assemblies and carry out maintenance on equipment, devices and machines. They are employed in mechanical and technical businesses. For this purpose, they read engineering data and technical drawings. They prepare the required equipment. They carry out their assignments and projects independently, but at times also as part of a team and together with other specialists.

At Montech, the training is focused on assembly technology.

These are your duties
  • Assembly of modules as small series
  • Final assembly and adjustment of conveyor systems, fixtures made of aluminum profiles and transfer systems
  • Reworking of components for prototype construction (drilling, turning, milling)
  • Proper packaging for transport to the customer

  • Successful completion of primary and secondary school, with secondary school level B
  • Good grades in mathematics and technical design
  • Practical person with manual skills
  • Good spatial sense
  • Enjoys manual work and working with machines
  • Reliable and responsible
Training locations

The headquarters of the company Montech AG will be the main location of your training.

Additional relevant training centers include the Solothurn Commercial-Industrial Vocational School and, for inter-company courses (ÜK), the Training Center of Swissmechanic, Solothurn Section, in Gerlafingen.

What is taught at these locations?

The inter-company courses during the first two years of training, teach the basic principles of production technology, e.g., turning, milling and drilling, and assembly technology.
The practically oriented subjects at the vocational school are: basic technical skills (mathematics, physics), materials technology, drawing techniques, joining, production and machine technology.
